Back on August 20, the Blue Dragons opened the 2021 season with a tough 1-0 victory against Western Wyoming in Rock Springs, Wyoming. A scheduled second game on August 21 was cancelled.

Freshman forward Hadlie Lowe scored the game's only goal 5 minutes into the second half and freshman goalkeeper Olivia Felix-Cardona was stellar in her HutchCC debut with six saves in the contest.

With 12 days off between games 1 and 2, the Blue Dragons will open a stretch of three games over the next eight days with their road game at Barton on Wednesday, the home opener against Johnson County at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Salthawk Sports Complex and at Garden City next Wednesday.

The Blue Dragon open Jayhawk West play with a Cougar team that has racked up 13 goals in their first two games of the season.

Barton has defeated Southeast Community College 8-1 and the McPherson College Junior Varsity 5-0. The Cougars have had 11 days off between its last game and Wednesday's matchup against the Blue Dragons.

Barton is led by forwards Annika Gerdau (5 goals) and Alisia Solis (4 goals).

Last season the Blue Dragons were 1-0-1 against Barton, tying the Cougars 1-1 in Great Bend and winning 3-0 in Hutchinson.
