GARDEN CITY – Before people settled into their seats on Friday night at Buster Stadium, the Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team had a lead.

The second-fastest goal in Blue Dragon history was the opening tally of a 3-0 Jayhawk West victory over Garden City, sweeping the season series with the Broncbusters.

Hutchinson improves to 9-2-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the Jayhawk West (22 points). Garden City falls to 2-10 overall and 2-8 in the conference.

Sydney Blackwell scored just 23 seconds into the game Friday night from a Brailey Moeder assist. The 23-second elapsed time is the second fastest goal scored in a game in program history. The fastest was 20 seconds scored by Stephany Cushing against Independence in 2012.

Blackwell's first-minute goal was the eighth in Blue Dragon history and second this season. Naomi Waithira had a goal 30 seconds into a Sept. 8 home game against Barton. It's the sixth time this season the Blue Dragons scored a goal in the first 5 minutes of a game.

Moeder had a goal and an assist to lead the Blue Dragons offensively. It was her eighth multi-point game of the season. Ashley Venegas scored her team-high 11th goal of the season in the 14th minute of the first half. Venegas has scored a goal for the third-straight game and for the 7th time in the last 8 games.

The Blue Dragons out-shot Garden City 10-0 on Friday night. It's the 23rd time in program history – the second against Garden City – to hold an opponent without a shot taken. It's the 38th time in team history – the third against the Busters – to hold an opponent without a shot on goal.

Blue Dragon goalkeeper Taylor Camp registered her fifth shutout of the season.
