Hutchinson CC Sports Information

Still looking to put together a complete 90-minute performance, the Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team will play host to the Dodge City Conquistadors in a Jayhawk West matchup on Wednesday.

Hutchinson and Dodge City will kick off at 6 p.m. at the Salthawk Sports Complex. The match will be videostreamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 5:55 p.m.

The Blue Dragons are second in the Jayhawk Conference and No. 6 in the NJCAA in goals scored with 39. Head coach Sammy Lane is worried, though, that while the Blue Dragons are creating plenty of scoring chances, they aren't finishing as many goals as they could be.

Through six games, the Dragons have shot 169 times. Of those total shots, only 98 have been on goal and only 39 have found the back of the net.

Lane, who is two victories short of winning 200 games at Hutchinson, has seen his team miss on numerous 1v1 chances throughout the early portion of the season.

The Dragons had several misses in a 4-1 victory on Saturday at Hesston College. Hutch had 23 shots on goal with four goals scored. Also, Hesston keeper Vivi Rodriguez had 19 saves in the game.

Dodge City (3-4-1, 2-2) had won two in a row before falling to Barton 6-0 on Saturday. The Conquistadors are 2-2-1 in road games this season.

Freshman Cloey Prachyl is Dodge City's leading scorer with three goals. Bryanna Chavez and Ruby Grajales have two goals each. Francine Mayes has six games in goal this season. She has a 2-3-1 record with a 2.24 goal-against average and a save percentage of .649.

The Blue Dragons are 3-0-1 at the Salthawk Sports Complex this season.
