TRINIDAD, Colorado – A little more than 11 minutes shy of an official game, the Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team saw a one-goal lead over Trinidad State wiped out.

Not by Trinidad State, but Mother Nature as a thunderstorm with plenty of lightning delayed Saturday's game with 31 minutes to play in the second half and Hutchinson leading 2-1.

The game was unable to restart as the Trinidad area was hit with several waves of thunderstorms on Saturday. The game was declared a no contest about an hour after the suspension of play. All stats accumulated in the game will not count and the game will not be made up.

College soccer games must go at least 70 minutes to be considered an official game.

Hutchinson took an early 1-0 lead on what would have been sophomore Megan Maslak's fifth goal of the season. The game, which was assisted by sophomore Brailey Moeder, came in the fourth minute of the game.

Trinidad State tied the game in the 38th minute on a penalty kick.

The Dragons started to assert a lot of pressure on Trinidad State in the second half and broke the deadlock when Maslak slipped a precision pass between to Trojan defenders to Moeder, who then sprinted into the box and beat the keeper to her right for the go-ahead goal.

A little less than two minutes, later Mother Nature let loose and the game went into a weather delay.

Hutchinson will have a week off before playing next. The Blue Dragons will take on North Iowa Area Community College at 2 p.m. next Saturday at the Salthawk Sports Complex.
