Freshman Brailey Moeder scored a career-high four goals while freshmen Avery McCarter and Hailey Burke each scored their first career hat tricks as the No. 18-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team rebounded from its first loss of the season on Saturday.

The Blue Dragons broke out of a midseason scoring slump with a 16-0 Jayhawk West rout of the Garden City Broncbusters at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

Hutchinson improves to 12-1-1 overall (7-1-1 in the Jayhawk West, 9-1-1 in Region VI). Garden City dropped to 0-13 overall (0-10 Jayhawk West, 0-12 Region VI). The game was halted in the 89th minute because of lightning in the area.

Saturday was the first time since last season that the Blue Dragons had three players have hat tricks in the same game.

Moeder had her second career hat trick with four goals on seven shots taken. She becomes the 34th Blue Dragon to score four goals in a game and the first since Jordan Downing had six and Sheena Nichol and Jazmin Hartshorn had four each against Pratt last season.

McCarter scored her three goals on five shots. Burke scored her hat trick on six shots. Moeder, McCarter and Burke had the 79th, 80th and 81st all-time hat tricks in team history.

Hutchinson scored seven goals in each half on Saturday.

Nichol had her second three-assist game of the season as the Dragons totaled 12 assists on 14 goals. Yadira Delgado and Miykayla Moresco had two assists each and Jasmine Blindt had one assist.

The 14 goals and 12 assists were both season highs. The 14 goals scored tied for the eighth most in Blue Dragon single-game history. The 38 total points tied for the 10th most in team history. The 12 assists tied for the eighth most.

The Blue Dragons dominated play, out-shooting 53-0 with 28 shots on goal.

Blue Dragon freshman goalkeeper Clara Bergmuller is now 7-0 with seven shutouts.

The Blue Dragons sweep the season series with Garden City and are now 21-0 all-time against the Broncbusters.

Hutchinson travels to Dodge City on Wednesday.
