The Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team continues its five-match season-opening homestand on Thursday against Region VI opponent Rose State.

The 2-0 Blue Dragons take on the 1-1 Raiders at 6 p.m. at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

Hutchinson has posted back-to-back shutout victories to open the 2017 season over Northeast Nebraska and Trinidad State. Sophomore Sheena Nichol is off to a strong start with seven points (2 goals, 3 assists), coming off a five-point outing against Trinidad State where she had a career-high three assists and a goal.

Hutch goalkeepers, Ashley Main and Clara Burgmuller have one shutout each through the first two games.

Rose State will be playing its third-straight Jayhawk Conference opponent. The Raiders defeated Pratt 7-0 and lost to No. 6 Butler 3-0.

Five different Rose State players have scored goals this season. Stephanie Wainscott is the lead leader with two goals. Revella Fisher (1-1) has played in both matches for the Raiders. She has a 1.50 goals-against average and an .824 save percentage.

Thursday's meeting between Hutchinson and Rose State will be the third in the series. The first two matches were played in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Both were one-goal Hutchinson victories. In 2015, the Blue Dragons won 3-2 in overtime and last year, Hutch battled for a 1-0 victory.

This will be Hutchinson's only match of the week. The Blue Dragons play host to Hesston College and Barton next week at the Salthawk Sports Complex.
