Kaitlyn Edwards and Jayda Wyatt scored two goals each and goalkeeper Karsyn Slothower posted her third-straight shutout to lead the 18th-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team to a 5-0 Jayhawk Conference victory over the Seward County Saints on Saturday morning at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

This was the first meeting between the two programs. Hutchinson is in its 19th season while the Saints played just their second game of their inaugural season.

The victory moved the Blue Dragons (2-0-1, 1-0-1 KJCCC) and head coach Sammy Lane within a milestone victory. Lane, the only head coach in program history, earned career win No. 249 on Saturday. The first attempt at No. 250 comes at Dodge City on Wednesday.

Edwards had a season-high five-point game with two goals and an assist to lead the Dragons. She earned her first career game-winning goal with the first goal of the game in the 38th minute.

Wyatt had her first career two-goal game with a pair of second-half goals for a single-game career-high four points.

Slothower became the first Blue Dragon goalkeeper with three full-time shutouts in her first three games of her career. Slothower made three big saves in the first half to preserve a scoreless tie.

Freshman Maelle Harnisch registered two assists. Abigahil Gallegos had her first career assist. Sophomore Adriana Delgado scored her second goal of the season.

The Blue Dragons out-shot Seward County 21-4, including 12-1 in the second half.

Seward County keeper Sydney Williams had seven saves.

The game was scoreless for the first 37 minutes, mainly due to three saves in the first 42 minutes by Slothower.

Slothower kept the shutout intact when she made a save on Karla Morales' wide-open shot from 12 yards out. The Blue Dragons immediately countered. Harnisch moved the ball up the right sideline and just past midfield, she delivered a perfect pass onto the foot of Edwards, who split two Saint defenders and beat Williams for the game's first goal with 7:27 to play in the first half.

Seward County nearly got the equalizer with less than 3 minutes to play in the half when Saint forward Malorie Massengale worked her way past four Hutchinson defenders and moved one-on-one against Slothower, who slammed the door on the Saints, maintaining a 1-0 Dragon lead.

The Blue Dragons had a much-stronger start to the second half. Eight minutes into the half, Harnisch played the ball into the box. Edwards and Williams both went up to play the ball. After Williams deflected the ball to the ground, Edwards made a deft flick of the ball with her right heel to a wide-open Delgado for a 2-0 Hutchinson lead with 36:11 to play in the second half.

Wyatt had goals three and four for the Blue Dragons.

First she took a throw-in from Gallegos in front of the Hutchinson bench and caught Seward County off guard, rocketing a shot from 35 yards out on an angle for 3-0 lead with 27:15 remaining. Wyatt made it 4-0 when she intercepted a Saint clearing attempt and drilled a shot from 20 yards out with 22:52 to play.

Edwards scored her second of the game with 4:05 remaining, taking an Ilex Hagen pass and scoring her fourth of the season for a 5-0 lead.
