BLUE DRAGONS POST THIRD-STRAIGHT SHUTOUT

DODGE CITY – The Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team posted its third-straight shutout and ninth of the season in a 2-0 Jayhawk West victory on Saturday over Dodge City at Memorial Stadium in Dodge City.

The Blue Dragons improve to 11-2-1 overall and 9-2-1 in Jayhawk West play. Dodge City falls to 7-8-1 overall and 6-6 in conference play. Hutchinson completes a season sweep of Dodge City, defeating the Conquistadors for the 18th-consecutive win over Dodge City. Hutch is now 19-1 all-time against Dodge City.

The Blue Dragons scored just 1 minute, 26 seconds into the game and the Jayhawk West's top defensive unit took the game from there.

For the first time over the three-game shutout streak, Blue Dragon goalkeeper Taylor Camp was forced to make a save. She made five saves against Dodge City. Camp is now 10-2-1 for the season with eight shutouts.

The Blue Dragons outshot Dodge City 12-8, but were slowed by 21 foul calls against them to Dodge's two.

It didn't take long for Hutch to get on the board when freshman Sydney Blackwell scored her seventh of the season when she headed in a direct free kick from sophomore Hailey Burke for a 1-0 Blue Dragon lead with 43:34 to play in the opening half. That score stood at halftime.

Hutch got a huge insurance goal when sophomore Brailey Moeder found the back of the net for her 10th goal of the year. Ashley Venegas has the assist and Hutchinson led 2-0 with 32:58 to play in the second half.

The Blue Dragons will play host to Pratt at 6 p.m. on Wednesday for Sophomore Night at the Salthawk Sports Complex.
