Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team has had many memorable and historical moments at the Salthawk Sports Complex since the program's inception in 2005.

The Blue Dragons will add one more moment of history at their home field on Saturday when Hutchinson plays its first home night game in program history.

While the moment the power is turned on at the SSC will be a footnote in Hutch Soccer history, the real story will be the Blue Dragons and the Barton Cougars playing a pivotal early Jayhawk West match. The first of two regular-season meetings between the Blue Dragons and Cougars will be at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be streamed by the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 6 p.m.

The Blue Dragons are 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the Jayhawk West after a 7-0 conference-opening road win at Northwest Tech on Wednesday. The Blue Dragons have outscored their first three opponents 24-0.

Barton is 1-2 overall and Saturday will be its first league contest. The Cougars opened the season with a 9-1 win over State Fair, but have dropped decisions of 4-2 and 5-1 to Seminole State and Rose State, respectively. Barton was supposed to open conference play on Wednesday against Garden City in Great Bend, but weather conditions forced the postponement of that match.

Hutchinson sophomore forward Megan Maslak is the No. 2 goal scorer in the Jayhawk Conference and is tied for 15th in the NJCAA with eight goals. She has at least one goal in all three Blue Dragon games so far. Sophomore Brailey Moeder and freshman Sydney Blackwell have four goals each. Moeder and freshman Naomi Waithira are tied for third in the Jayhawk with three assists each.

The Blue Dragons will face their best offensive opponent in the early season. Barton is averaging four goals per game with freshman forward Rayssa Neres' three goals leading the team. Sophomore Larissa Fagundes and freshman Domenica Pena have two each for the Cougars.

Last season, the Blue Dragons were 1-0-1 against Barton.

Hutchinson, in day games at the Salthawk Sports Complex, has posted a record of 102-15-1 all time, which includes a 30-game unbeaten streak. Because the Hutchinson USD 308 School District added lights to the stadium field at the SSC, a new stat will be kept for Blue Dragon Soccer, record in home night games.

Overall, Hutch will be playing only its 14th scheduled night game in the 246-game history of the program. Hutchinson is 11-2 in previous night games.
