HutchCC Sports Information
The Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team comes off its best offensive game of the season as the Blue Dragons head to Dodge City for another key Jayhawk West showdown.
Game time for Wednesday's contest at Dodge City's Memorial Stadium is 6 p.m.
The Blue Dragons racked up a season-high 14 goals and three players had hat tricks in a 14-0 victory over Garden City on Saturday at the Salthawk Sports Complex.
The victory was the first in what needs to be four-game winning streak for the Blue Dragons to repeat as Jayhawk West champions. The 12-1-1 Blue Dragons are 7-1-1 (22 points) and are currently in third place in the Jayhawk West behind Cloud County and Northwest Tech (both 8-2, 24 points). If the Blue Dragons win out, Hutchinson will win the league regardless of what the Thunderbirds and Mavericks do.
Dodge City is battling for a Region VI Tournament home playoff game. The much-improved Conquistadors are 9-7-1 overall and are in fourth place in the Jayhawk West at 5-4-1. Dodge City has a five-point lead on fifth-place Barton for that final home playoff spot.
The Conquistadors had a five-game winning streak snapped on Saturday after a 4-1 loss to Northwest Tech.
Hutchinson defeated Dodge City 8-0 on September 20 at the Salthawk Sports Complex. Brailey Moeder had a seven-point game against the Conquistadors in the first meet with her first career hat trick and an assist. Hutch's defense held Dodge City to six total shots, only one on goal.
After last week's 4-0 loss to Northwest Tech, the Blue Dragons fell out of the latest NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer Rankings, which were released on Tuesday. The Dragons had been in the rankings for five-straight weeks and climbed as high as No. 16.
Tyler Junior College remains No. 1 in the rankings. Butler is the highest-ranked at No. 17. Johnson County is No. 18 and Northwest Tech is No. 20.
