BLUE DRAGONS TIE TEAM RECORD WITH 6TH-STRAIGHT SHUTOUT

PRATT – Six different players scored goals and the Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team tied a team record with its sixth-straight shutout in a 6-0 Jayhawk West victory over Pratt on Wednesday.

The 2017 Blue Dragons match the 2009 and 2012 Hutchinson teams with six-consecutive shutouts. The streak of 540 consecutive scoreless minutes is the third longest in program history.

The No. 19-ranked Blue Dragons improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 (6 points) in the Jayhawk West. Hutchinson has now outscored its six opponents 26-0. Pratt falls to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the Jayhawk West.

The Blue Dragons dominated possession and out-shot Pratt 36-2, going 15-1 in shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Clara Bergmuller made one save in her third shutout of the season. The Blue Dragons had 11 corner kicks to Pratt's 1.

Freshman Taylor Godlove scored her first goal of the season to get the Blue Dragons on the board just 2 minutes, 32 seconds into the match. It was an unassisted goal.

Hutch tallied twice more in the first half. Sophomore Emilee Krehbiel scored her first of the season from a Kaitlyn Sabala assist in the 16th minute for a 2-0 lead. With less than 4 minutes to play in the opening half, Avery McCarter took a pass from Hailey Burke and scored her second of the season for a 3-0 lead.

The Blue Dragons exploded in the first eight minutes of the second have with three goals.

Sophomore Sheena Nichol scored just 1:12 into the half from a Brailey Moeder assist. Sabala scored her first of the season on an unassisted effort 2 minutes, 25 seconds later. Moeder then finished off the scoring with her team-high sixth goal of the season from a Mikayla Vega assist at the 53:10 mark.

The Blue Dragons travel to Northwest Tech to play a 2 p.m. match on Saturday in Goodland.

MATCH NOTES – The Blue Dragons are now 9-0 all-time against Pratt with an overall score of 90-0. … Brailey Moeder has scored at least one point in every match this season. She is the only Blue Dragon to do so. … Hutch now has 183 all-time shutouts. … The Dragons have won 13 consecutive conference matches dating back to 2015.
