Hutchinson Community College sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Main was selected as the Jayhawk Conference's first Goalkeeper of the Week for the 2017 season.

Main, a sophomore Buhler High School product, shared the first weekly conference honor of the season with Butler goalkeeper Elena Garcia.

In her only action of the week, Main posted her first career shutout with a career-best five saves to lead the Blue Dragons to a 3-0 season-opening win over Northeast Nebraska at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

The Blue Dragon keeper made a strong first-half save on a direct free kick and then made a key save after a bad defensive zone giveaway to help Hutchinson maintain a scoreless tie in the first half.

Then with Hutch leading 2-0 in the second half, Main scrambled on the ground in front of the goal trying to get to a loose ball with several Hawks players trying to attempt a shot in the 58th minute. From the ground, Main got a hand on the ball to push it out of danger, maintaining the shutout.

Main will be eligible for NJCAA National Goalkeeper of the Week honors, which will be announced on Wednesday.
