FLANAGAN, DRAGONS ARE SECOND AT UNK INVITE

KEARNEY, Neb. – Sophomore Teagan Flanagan had his fourth finish of second place or better and the No. 4-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's cross country team has its third-straight second-place finish on Friday at the Nebraska-Kearney Invitational at Meadowlark Hills Country Club.

Flanagan was just 0.3 seconds off his career-best 8,000-meter time that he set on October 3 at the Red Devils Relays. Flanagan led three Blue Dragon runners in the Top 20.

Nebraska-Kearney won the team title with 25 points. The Lopers had runners finish consecutively from third to 11th. The Blue Dragons had 62 points, Cloud County was third with 68, Dodge City fourth with 91 and Northwest Tech was fifth with 129 points.

Flanagan was second on Friday with a time of 25:07.3, just 0.3 seconds off his career-best time. He now has one individual championship and three runner-up finishes this season. Cloud County's Habtamu Geta defeated Flanagan by 4 seconds for the individual title.

Four other Blue Dragons posted person records on Friday.

Sophomore Jacob Mcelhanon was Hutchinson's second-best finisher with a 15th-place time PR time of 26:23.8. Freshman Cameron Delaney placed 18th with a PR time of 26:43.7. Freshman Jareth Carrasco had his best race finish and time with a 29th-place showing in a time of 28:21.1. Sophomore Matthew Schrag was the fifth scorer for the Blue Dragons. Schrag was 30th with a time of 28:22.6.

Freshman Aaron Geissinger finished 32nd on Friday with a PR time of 28:53.1.

Friday was the final regular-season race for the Blue Dragons. Next up will be the Region VI Cross Country championships on Wednesday, October 28 in El Dorado.
