McPHERSON – The No. 7-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's cross country team placed two runners in the Top 10 on Saturday to lead the Blue Dragons to a third-place finish at the Carol Swenson Invitational at Bulldog Park in McPherson.
Sophomore All-American posted her fourth career sub-19 minute time at 5,000 meters with a third-place time of 18 minutes, 45.96 seconds. Larson has finished in the Top 5 of a meet for the fifth time in her career.
Freshman Laura Avila ran a season's-best 5K time and her second Top 10 career finish, placing eighth with a time of 19:02.02.
The Blue Dragon had 74 points to place third overall on Saturday. Tabor College won the women's team championship with 45 points. Kansas Wesleyan was second with 53 points.
Sophomore Taylor Hoskinson was the third Blue Dragon to place in the Top 20. Hoskinson placed 18th with a time of 19:52.99
The Blue Dragons also counted time of freshman Jordyn Picolet, who placed 26th with a time of 20:11..69.
Sophomore Lauren Aden had the second-best time of her career and highest individual placing at the Swenson Invitational. Aden was 28th with a time of 20:21.46.
Sophomore Ellie VanZelfden placed 30th overall with a time of 20:26.21. Freshman Abigail Grantham was 57th with a time of 21:30.31.
Sophomore Gracie Lambert ran for the first time this season and placed 61st with a time of 23:08.58. Freshman Chloe Inskeep was 62nd with a season-low time of 23:09.91.
John Brown University's Cera Eckenroth won the women's individual title with a time of 18:02.08.
The Blue Dragons run next at the Firestarter Classic next Saturday in Iola.
