EL DORADO – Freshmen Serenity Larson and Taylor Hoskinson led the way for the No. 2-ranked Hutchinson Community College Women's Cross Country team on Friday at the Ollie Isom Invitational

In fact, four Blue Dragons placed third through sixth in the women's 5,000-meter race as the Blue Dragons finished second as a team, narrowly bumped off the top spot on the awards stand by one point, 37-38.

Coming off having 7 of 9 runners setting new career-bests at the Chili Pepper Festival in Arkansas two weeks ago, Larson led the Blue Dragons with a third-place individual finish with a time of 19:25.6. Larson broke the Blue Dragons' 5,000-meter record at the Chili Pepper.

Hoskinson finished shortly after in fourth, clocking in at 19:32.52.

The Blue Dragon parade kept coming as freshman Gracie Lambert crossed the finish line fifth with a time of 20:01.43. Cocking followed closely behind Lambert and finished in sixth at 20:04.43.

The next Blue Dragon to finish was freshman Adaline Fulmer, who came in 21st with a time of 21:26.17.

Freshman Courtney Baetz came in 23rd, finishing with a time of 21:38.47.

Also finishing in the Top 30 were freshman Ellie Van Zelfden in 26th with a time of 21:49.25 and freshman Lauren Aden, who came in 29th with a time of 22:02.50.

Freshman Daisy Orozco and sophomore Aidyn White followed suit in 44th and 45th, Orozco clocking in at 23:35.86 and White finishing off at 23:55.93.

Cloud County's Lucy Ndungu was the race's individual winner with a time of 19:08.53. Her sophomore teammate Melody Ochana finished right behind her in second place with a time of 19:25.60.

The Blue Dragons will prepare for the Region VI Cross Country Championship, which will be Friday, Oct. 28 at Fun Valley in Hutchinson.
