STILLWATER, Okla. – The Hutchinson Community College women's cross country team did plenty to prove why it's ranked No. 12 in the NJCAA Division I rankings on Saturday.

The Blue Dragons finished seventh in the college division of the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree at the famed OSU Cross Country Course. Four Blue Dragon runners placed in the top 50 and three cracked the 21-minute mark on the rugged 5K course.

Hutchinson also posted one of the fastest average team times in program history when running in the Cowboy Jamboree. The Blue Dragons' 2017 average time of 20 minutes, 58.7 seconds smashed last year's average of 22:25.9.

Iowa Central dominated the team race with 20 points. Central Oklahoma placed second with 91 points. Cowley was third with 92 and Colby was fourth with 99. The Blue Dragons were the third-highest Jayhawk Conference team in the final standings.

One year ago, Maggie Lambert was just outside the Top 15 at the Cowboy Jamboree. On Saturday, the Blue Dragon sophomore was a Top 20 placer. Lambert finished 18th with a time of 20:10.5.

Freshman Aileen Gomez placed 33rd with a time of 20:44.9. Freshman American Garcia was 37th in 20:55.0. Sarah Patteson and Amhara Saw were the other Blue Dragons to figure into the team score. Patteson was 40th in 21:00.3 and Saw finished 66th in 22:02.6

All 11 Blue Dragons to run on Saturday finished in the Top 90.

Macy Linenberger was 62nd (22:03.7), Caitlin Schlickau was 72nd (22:28.8), Ashton Schlickau was 78th (22:30.3), Yanelly Jurado was 84th (23:26.5), Amy Burton was 85th (23:57.8) and Carissa Youngs was 87th (23:58.4).

Next up for the Blue Dragons will be the Fort Hays State Invitational next Saturday in Victoria. This will be the only time this season that Hutchinson will run in back-to-back weeks.
