LAMBERT RUNS 2ND-FASTEST 5K TIME IN BLUE DRAGON HISTORY

JOPLIN, Mo. – Sophomore Maggie Lambert continued to climb the Hutchinson Community College women's cross country all-time charts on Saturday by posting the second-fastest time in Blue Dragon history at the Missouri Southern Stampede.

Running a 5K race for the first time this season, Lambert finished eighth in the women's college race with a time of 19 minutes 6.06 seconds.

Lambert came into the 2017 season with the fifth-fastest time in team history. Only Ruth Limo's time of 18:50 set in 2001 is faster than Lambert's time on Saturday.

This is the fourth time that Lambert has broken the 20-minute mark in her Blue Dragon career.

The Blue Dragons finished 10th in the team standings with 242 points. Region VI and Jayhawk Conference rival Cowley won the women's team championship with 48 points. Allen was second with 93 points. Butler was third with 140 points.

The Blue Dragons had five runners finish in the Top 100 on Saturday. Aileen Gomez was 28th with a time of 19:35.34, which was the 16th-fastest time in Blue Dragon history.

Sarah Patteson finished 55th overall with a time of 20:03.25. America Garcia was 77th in 20:34.46 and Macy Linenberger was 100th in 21:01.37.
