
Hutchinson CC Sports Information
The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team hit a conference season-high .344 on Friday night to complete a match and season sweep of the Seward County Saints at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
Spurred on by an 11-1 run to close the opening set, the Blue Dragons went on for a 25-15, 25-15, 25-19 victory over the Saints.
The Blue Dragons got back to .500 at 18-18 and are now tied for fifth at 6-7 in the KJCCC. Hutchinson closes out its regular-season home schedule with a 6 p.m. home match on Saturday against Pratt at the Sports Arena. The Blue Dragons will celebrate Sophomore Night activities before the game.
With the first set tied at 14-all, the Blue Dragons went on a 10-1 scoring run to close out the set and set the tone for the match.
Freshman Atlyn Proctor hit .421 and had a team-high 10 kills on 19 attacks.
Freshman Tiana Simmons had nine kills and hit .200. Simmons added 11 digs and five blocks.
Sophomore McKenzie Murphy hit a season-high 632 on nine kills, no errors and 13 assists.
Sophomore Precious Johnson finished with seven kills on .357 hitting. Johnson had five block assists.
Freshman Kierny Follmer had six kills on .300 hitting.
The Blue Dragons out-hit the Saints .344-.139. The Dragons out-blocked the Saints 10-4, out-dug the Saints 45-33 and had eight service aces to Seward's four.
Sophomore setter Shelbi Wilson finished with 41 assists, three digs and two ace serves.
Freshman libero Addy Foster had a match-high 17 digs. Freshman libero Beatriz Carvalho had a match-high five service aces and four digs.
