ODESSA, Texas – Freshman setter Ellie Suber had a tremendous all-round game on Saturday morning to lead the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team to a sweep of Panola College in its final match of the OC Invitational.
After starting the weekend with two losses to nationally ranked teams, the Blue Dragons rebounded to go 2-2 for the Invitational after a 25-17, 25-19, 25-16 victory over the Ponies at the OC Sports Center.
The Blue Dragons are now 8-6 overall and will return to KJCCC play on Wednesday at Garden City.
Suber guided the Blue Dragons to a sweep with 30 assists and five kills on Saturday. She added three service aces and one block assist.
Freshman outside hitter Viktoria Graf led the Dragons with 11 kills. Graf added seven digs and two aces to per stat
Sophomore middle Precious Johnson had a season-high eight kills, including three in a row to close out the first set. Johnson also had a block assist.
Sophomore right-side hitter Tiana Simmons finished with six kills and one block.
Defensively, the Blue Dragons were led by freshman libero Addy Foster, who had 12 digs. Freshman defensive specialist Siani Sanchez finished with five digs. Sophomore middle McKenzie Murphy and freshman middle Kierny Folmer had two blocks each.
