ODESSA, Texas – After dropping two straight matches to open the OC Invitational, the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team got back to a balanced offensive attack to sweep Vernon College in the third of four matches at the OC Sports Center.

The Blue Dragons opened the day falling to No. 14 New Mexico Junior College 20-25, 13-25, 21-25. The Dragons climbed back to the .500 mark for the season later on Friday with a 25-10, 25-22, 25-22 victory over Vernon.

Hutchinson (7-7) will play Panola College at 8 a.m. on Saturday to close out the OC Invitational.

VERNON RECAP
The Blue Dragons' 15-point first set victory was the largest single-set victory of the season. The sweep was also Hutchinson's fourth sweep of the season.

Sophomore setter Shelbi Wilson set a balanced offense with 28 assists. She just missed her first career double-double with digs.

Freshman outside hitter Atlyn Proctor had a team-high eight kills to pace the Blue Dragon offense. Sophomore right-side hitter Tiana Simmons had seven kills.

Freshman outside hitter Viktoria Graf finished with six kills, nine digs, two blocks and two ace serves. Sophomore middle McKenzie Murphy finished with five kills and two blocks.

Defensively, freshman libero Addy Foster had 14 digs. Freshman defensive specialist Siani Sanchez had three ace serves.

NEW MEXICO RECAP
Proctor had seven kills and three block assists to lead the Blue Dragons against No. 14 New Mexico. Graf was next with four kills.

Murphy had five total blocks, including two solo blocks. Freshman middle Kierny Follmer had two total blocks and two ace serves.

Freshman setter Ellie Suber finished with 10 assists. Suber added a pair of service aces. Freshman setter Angela Ruepena had six assists.

Foster had 14 digs for the Blue Dragons.
