GARDEN CITY – The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team hit .343 as a team and started a five-match road trip on Wednesday with a Jayhawk West sweep of Garden City at Conestoga Arena.

Hutchinson completed a season sweep of the Broncbusters with a 25-17, 25-14, 25-19 victory to improve to 13-11 overall and 8-4 in the Jayhawk West. The Blue Dragons now play four matches in their final regular-season tournament of the season on Friday at the Grizzly Invitational in West Plains, Missouri. Garden City falls to 0-26 and 0-14 in the conference.

Elena Takova hit a season-high .500 with 11 kills and only one error on 20 attacks to lead the Blue Dragons offensively. The Dragons have their top two single-match attack performance highs this season against Garden City.

Garden City native Lexi Hogan hit .350 with nine kills on 20 attacks with only two errors. Eden Hiebert had six kills.

Setter Cassidy Crites had 23 assists and six digs for the Blue Dragons. Eboni Sapien had 11 assists. Libero Raychel Reed had a team-high 12 digs.

The Blue Dragons racked up nine service aces with three from Claira Creach and two from Crites.

Hutchinson totaled 47 kills, 37 digs and four team blocks.

The Blue Dragons open play in West Plains on Friday with Panola College.
