The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team faces a big 72 hours starting Saturday in Liberal.
Over the next three days the Blue Dragons can avenge the only Jayhawk West losses they have suffered in 2018.
This significant stretch begins Saturday with No. 10 Seward County and closes on Monday night at the Sports Arena against Colby.
Match time for Saturday at Seward County is 6:30 p.m. at the Green House in Liberal. Seward County Sports Information will provide the videostream of the match.
Hutchinson has won four matches in a row and 5 of the last 6. The Blue Dragons own two victories this season over nationally-ranked opponents, No. 17 Missouri State-West Plains and No. 9 Hill College.
The Blue Dragons are 2-6 against NJCAA-ranked teams this season. One of those losses was a four-set loss to Seward County on September 5 at the Sports Arena. The Dragons gave up a season-worst .426 hitting percentage against and hit only .145 against the Saints in the first meetings. Hutch hit .350 in a dominant first-set win, but hit only .107 for the rest of the match.
Elena Takova and Eden Hiebert had nine and eight kills, respectively, for the Blue Dragons. Raychel Reed had 20 digs in the first meeting with the Saints.
The threesome of Djuly Schmorantz, Giovani Tapigliani and Luz Sierra combined for 50 kills in the first meeting.
On Monday, the Blue Dragons look to avenge a five-set loss to the Trojans on September 12 in Colby.
