Hutchinson CC Sports Information

There were plenty of positives to come out of Hutchinson Community College volleyball's five-set loss at unbeaten Colby on Wednesday in Colby.

The Blue Dragons hope to continue that upswing on Saturday at 5 p.m. when the Garden City Broncbusters comes to the Sports Arena for a Jayhawk West matchup.

The game will be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network beginning at 5 p.m.

Hutchison dropped the first two sets against Colby on Wednesday and rallied to force a fifth set. Leading 12-9 in the fifth, the Blue Dragons struggled in the last nine rallies as Colby came back to claim the fifth set.

Sophomore Elena Takova had a career-high 20 kills while freshmen Eden Hiebert and Lauren Willson added 17 kills each as for the first time this season the Blue Dragons had three attackers in double figures in kills.

Hutchinson is 4-5 overall and 3-2 in the Jayhawk West.

Takova has been solid in her last three outings hitting .358 with 3.3 kills per set. For the season, Takova is hitting .221 with 2.29 kills per set.

Garden City has struggled getting off to a 0-14 start. The Busters have won only 4 of 46 sets played this year and have been swept in six-straight matches.

The Busters are hitting .087 with 7.28 kills per set.
