The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team looks to stay right in the thick of the Jayhawk West title chances as the Blue Dragons head west to play unbeaten Colby on Wednesday.

The Jayhawk West match will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Colby Community Building.

The Blue Dragons are 3-1 in the Jayhawk West and trails Colby and Seward County by one-half game in the standings. Butler is 2-0 in the Jayhawk West.

The Blue Dragons got back to the .500 mark on Monday with a sweep of Dodge City at the Sports Arena. Sophomore Lexi Hogan matched a career high with 10 kills while sophomore Elena Takova had eight kills and a career-high six blocks.

Colby, which his receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Rankings, is one to one of its best starts in program history at 12-0. Wednesday's match will be the start of a tough stretch of games for the Trojans, who will play Hutchinson, Butler, Barton and Seward County in their next four matches.

The Blue Dragons are still looking to put things together offensively. Through eight matches, the Blue Dragons are hitting just .167 and 10.2 kills per set.

The Dragons will defend one of the best offensive teams in the Jayhawk West in Colby. The Trojans are hitting .245 with 12.3 kills per set.

Hutchinson returns home on Saturday to take on Garden City at 5 p.m.
