The Hutchinson Community College Volleyball Team know what's going on where the Jayhawk Conference is concerned.

The Blue Dragons know in order to have a chance to win a sixth-straight Jayhawk West crown, they will likely have to win the remaining seven matches. It's not a scenario uncommon to the Blue Dragons. In both 2014 and 2016, the Blue Dragons suffered early conference losses only to run the table and win the conference.

The secret in those seasons was taking it one match at a time.

Match 1 of what the Blue Dragons hopefully becomes a seven-match West win streak is Wednesday at the Sports Arena when Cloud County is the opponent for a 6:30 p.m. match that will also be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.

Entering play on Wednesday, the Blue Dragons find themselves down by one full game in the Jayhawk West to Seward County. The Saints have a two-game lead in the loss column. Behind Hutchinson and Seward County is Colby. Those two teams have administered Jayhawk West losses on the Dragons. Right behind the Blue Dragons are Butler and a surging Barton team.

Wednesday will be a rematch of a September 2 matchup in Concordia where the Blue Dragons earned a 25-19, 25-14, 25-22 sweep of the Thunderbirds. Hutchinson hit .284 to Cloud County's .244. Page Hiebert had 11 kills on .333 hitting and Nina Pevic had 10 kills on .562 hitting. Irem Bat had 11 kills on .364 hitting to lead Cloud County in that match.

After going 2-2 at the TJC Invitational in Tyler, Texas, over the weekend, the Blue Dragons are hitting .250 as a team with 12.39 kills, 1.99 blocks and 15.28 digs per set. Hutch is hitting .269 with 12.73 kills, 2.48 blocks and 15.54 digs per set in Jayhawk West matches.

Cloud County is hitting .211 as a team with 9.54 kills, 1.90 blocks and 13.23 digs per set. The Thunderbirds are 1-9 in their last match matches. They dropped a 3-0 decision at Garden City on Friday.
