COLBY – Entering the day in a three-way tie for first place in the Jayhawk West, the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team suffered its first league loss of the season on Saturday.

Tied at a set apiece, Colby dominated the third set and held the Blue Dragons off in the fourth to defeat the Blue Dragons 19-25, 25-18, 11-25, 23-25 at the Colby Community Building.

The Blue Dragons fall to 8-5 overall and are 4-1 in the Jayhawk West. Colby improves to 14=2 and 5-0 in league play.

The Dragons struggled offensive through most of the match.

Sophomore Page Hiebert had a team-high 10 kills on .071 hitting. Nina Pevic had nine kills on 29 attacks, but hit .137.

Sophomore Tatyana Ndekwe finished with six kills on .375 hitting with four total blocks. Leonie Wienkaemper had five kills on 15 swings. She hit .200, but added four total blocks,

Sophomore setter Katie Jorn finished with 27 assists.

Freshman libero Raychel Reed finished with 21 digs. Freshman Claira Creach had 13 digs and sophomore Kelsey Mulligan had 11 digs. Sophomore Patricia Joseph finished with a team-high five blocks, including one solo stuff.

The Blue Dragons have a quick turnaround with a Monday Jayhawk West match at Barton. Match time is 6:30 p.m. at the Barton Gym in Great Bend.
