TWIN FALLS, Idaho – What a rebound for the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team on Friday at the CSI/Starr Corp. Classic.

The Blue Dragons were dominated by No. 10 Snow College 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-17) in Friday's opening match. Head coach Patrick Hall decided to change things up and switch offensive systems to a 5-1 and the Dragons responded.

Sophomore setter Katie Jorn nearly had her first career triple-double in leading the Blue Dragons to a 3-0 sweep of No. 4 Salt Lake (25-21, 25-18, 25-23) to finish the first day 1-1.

The last time the Blue Dragons defeated a nationally ranked Top 5 opponent was two seasons ago in Twin Falls against then No. 4-Salt Lake.

The 6-3 Blue Dragons will now take on Northwest College at Noon and No. 6 College of Southern Idaho at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

SALT LAKE RECAP
Running a 5-1 offense for the first time this season, Jorn ranked up a career-high 30 assists and tied a career-high with 14 digs. She added a career-best eight kills in the match. This was Jorn's first double-double of the season and eighth of her career.

Coach Hall also inserted sophomore libero Kelsey Mulligan and sophomore McKenna Sullivan into the lineup. Both had been injured and played sparingly through the first eight matches. Mulligan was making her first start of the season.

The moves paid off as Hutchinson put together one of its most complete offensive matches of the season.

Sophomore outside hitter Page Hiebert led all hitters with 17 kills, the third time this season she has had 17 or more kills in a match. Hiebert added nine digs and four ace serves.

Sullivan added seven kills, Nina Pevic had six and Tatyana Ndekwe had four kills.

Raychel Reed finished with 19 digs to lead the Dragons in the back row. Claira Creach finished with eight digs and Mulligan had seven digs. The Hutch back row defense was facing several tough shots as Salt Lake continually hit over the Dragon block.

Hall said the Dragons were very aggressive serving the Bruins and was stellar in service reception with only three receiving errors in the match.

SNOW RECAP
Reed's career-high 22 digs was one of the few highlight in Hutch's 3-0 loss to No. 10 Snow College. Creach had 10 digs, but the Blue Dragons struggled offensively.

Page Hiebert had only eight kills to lead Hutchinson in Friday's first match. Leonie Weinkaemper had five.

Jorn and Payton Gawith finished with eight assists each. Jorn added 12 digs. Ndekwe had two total blocks to lead Hutchinson.
