Wednesday's match will be the first for the Blue Dragon volleyball team in the completed Sports Arena. The following information is for fans coming to Wednesday's match. + The Sports Arena is air-conditioned + Please park in the West Sports Arena parking lot. + The only entrance to the Arena for Blue Dragon volleyball will be on the west side. East side and south side entrances will be closed. + Fan seating will be in the north blue and red sections. All yellow sections will be closed off. + The only concession stand open will be on the east concourse. |

The Hutchinson Community College volleyball team plays at home for the first time in 2017 on Wednesday with the Garden City Broncbusters come to the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
Match time for the 2017 Jayhawk West opener for both teams is 6:30 p.m. The match will be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 6:30 p.m.
The Blue Dragons went 2-2 on opening weekend at the New Mexico Military Classic in Roswell, New Mexico. The Dragons earned sweeps over South Mountain and Pima, but lost in three sets to Eastern Arizona and four sets to New Mexico Military.
The Dragons had their good moments and rough moments on opening weekend.
Sophomore Page Hiebert was the leading hitter with 3.46 kills per set, but on .206 hitting. The Dragons hit .194 as a team in four matches in Roswell. Defensively, Hutchinson averaged 2.08 blocks and 12.62 digs per set, but struggled at times with service reception.
Garden City also played in Roswell and went 1-3. The Busters' only win was a sweep of Pima. Garden then lost to New Mexico Military in four sets and was swept by Eastern Arizona and Odessa.
The Busters hit .189 last weekend, but were stellar on defense with 12.15 digs per set.
Sophomore Shaney Tiumalu led Garden City with 2.85 kills per sent on .200 hitting. Sophomore libero Bailey Martinez averaged 5.46 digs per set in four matches last weekend.
Hutchinson has won 18-straight home-opening matches.
The Blue Dragons will be off until next Wednesday when the Dodge City Conquistadors come to the Sports Arena for a 6:30 p.m. Jayhawk West match.
