EL DORADO – Hutchinson Community College sophomore Maggie Lambert closed out her Blue Dragon career on Friday with a 16th-place showing in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase on Friday at the 2018 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships at BG Products Stadium.

The school-record holder in the event, Lambert's final race as a Blue Dragon was run in a time of 12 minutes, 29.94 seconds.

Friday was Lambert's sixth national competition in her Blue Dragon career. She set the career steeplechase record on her home track last season at the 2017 NJCAA Championships at Gowans Stadium.

The field Lambert ran in on Friday was one of the best Steeplechase fields in recent history. The winner, Iowa Central's Adva Cohen set a national record with a time of 10 minutes, 31.16 seconds, bettering the old national mark of 25.66 seconds.

Lambert was the only Blue Dragon women's athlete to compete on Friday. Only three athletes remain in the competition for Saturday. Sophomore Alex Rodriguez will close her Blue Dragon career with the women's discus and freshman Quin McKinnis will compete in the javelin. Aileen Gomez will run in the 5,000 meters.

Iowa Central leads the women's team race with 54 points.
