Hutchinson CC Sports Information

Freshman Quin McKinnis was the top finisher on Friday for the No. 12-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's track and field day during Day 2 of the 2018 Region VI Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Gowans Stadium.

McKinnis was one of three Blue Dragon individuals and one relay to post season or career-best marks as Hutchinson sits in fourth place through 5 of 22 events.

Already qualified for the NJCAA National Championships, McKinnis placed second in the regional championship with a season's-best throw of 130 feet, 1 inch. She was one of four scorers for Hutchinson on Friday.

Sophomore thrower Alex Rodriguez placed fourth in the hammer with a personal-best 149 feet, 1 inch.

Freshman Aileen Gomez ran the second-fastest time in the 10,000 meters in Blue Dragon women's history on Friday night. Gomez ran a fourth-place regional time of 42 minutes, 34.98 seconds.

Hutchinson's 4x800 relay placed fifth in a time of 9:53.21. The relay unit of Hannah Schultz, Caitlin Schlickau, Sarah Patteson and Saw Ahmara combined to run the third-fastest time in team history.

Cloud County leads the team standings through five events with 42 points. Barton is second with 32, followed by Cowley with 26 and the Blue Dragons with 22.

Field events on Saturday begin at 10 a.m. with running events at Noon at Gowans Stadium.
