Hutchinson CC Sports Information

PITTSBURG – The Hutchinson Community College women's Distance Medley Relay team became the fifth NJCAA Indoor national qualifier on Friday on Day 1 at the Gorilla Classic at Pittsburg State University's Plaster Center.

The relay team of freshman Sarah Patteson, sophomore Marshelle Conley, freshman Saw Ahmara and sophomore Maggie Lambert posted an eighth-place time of 13 minutes, 20.73 seconds.

That time is the fourth fastest in Blue Dragon indoor women's track history.

Sophomore Alex Rodriguez finished 16th in the 20-pount weight throw at 49-7 3/4 inches on Friday.

Sprinter Tatyana Hopkins ran 8.04 seconds in her 60-meter preliminary time.

More Blue Dragons will be in action on Saturday and another group of Hutchinson athletes will be at the highland Challenge. This weekend is the final weekend of the indoor regular season. Next week the Blue Dragons will compete in the Region VI Championships at Highland and Manhattan.
