JANIC BECOMES FIRST HUTCH WOMEN’S NJCAA QUALIFIER

OVERLAND PARK – All-American Adrianna Janic became the first Hutchinson Community College women's track and field athlete to punch her ticket to nationals, doing so on Friday night at the KC Night Relays at the Johnson County Fieldhouse.

Janic won the women's high jump on Friday with a national qualifying standard 5 feet, 3 1/4 inches. She is the first Blue Dragon women's qualifier for the 2018 season.

Several other Blue Dragons knocked on the door of national marks on Friday night. Janic was the only event winner, but the Dragons had seven total top-three finishes.

+ Clarie Olsen placed second in the triple jump at 33 feet, 9 1/2 inches.

+ Sarah Patteson was second in the mile run with a time of 5:50.01

+ Hutch's Distance Medley Relay team was second in a tie of 13:56.89.

+ Sophomore Ocean Paul placed third in the pole vault with a season's best clearance of 9 feet, 6 1/4 inches.

+ Saw Ahmara was third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:36.37.

+ The Hutch 4x400 relay was third in a time of 4:33.47.

The Blue Dragons next compete at the Jayhawk Invitational next Friday in Lawrence.
