EL DORADO – Freshman Kira Artmann had a season-high three-point game, but the No. 18 Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team dropped its first Jayhawk Conference match of the season, falling 3-2 to No. 10 Butler on Saturday at BG Products Veterans Stadium.

The Blue Dragons are now 3-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in KJCCC play. The Blue Dragons return home to play Coffeyville at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

Hutchinson found itself down two goals just 12:55 into the first half, but started to control possession from that point forward. The Dragons trimmed the lead to 2-1 with 10:59 remaining in the half. Katharina Marx scored her fourth goal of the season from an Artmann assist.

Butler took a 3-1 lead with 33:53 remaining in the second half.

The Blue Dragons cut the deficit to 3-2 when Artmann scored unassisted with 6:57 remaining in the half.

Hutchinson out-shot Butler 19-15, including 10-4 in the second half.

Sophomore goalkeeper Karsyn Slothower (3-1-0) had six saves. Butler keeper Rylie Schiffelbein had eight assists.
