Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team returns to action on Saturday for the first time since suffering its first loss on Wednesday.

The Blue Dragons look to regroup against Northwest Tech as the second half of the Jayhawk West season begins. Kickoff at the Salthawk Sports Complex is at 2 p.m.

The Blue Dragons are 7-1-1 overall and 5-1-1 (16 points) in the Jayhawk West. The Blue Dragons are currently in third place in the conference standings. Northwest Tech is 2-5-1 overall and 2-5 (6 points) in the conference.

Northwest Tech is the first Jayhawk West team the Blue Dragons will play twice. Hutchinson defeated the Mavericks 7-0 on Sept. 5 in Goodland. Sophomore Megan Maslak had two goals and Brailey Moeder had a goal and an assist while Hutch goalkeeper Taylor Camp had two saves. Hutchinson's defense held Northwest Tech to just two total shots taken.

The Blue Dragons look to regain their scoring touch that made them the No. 1 scoring offense in the Jayhawk West for the first three weeks of September. On Wednesday in a 2-0 loss to Cloud County, the Blue Dragons were limited to a season-low six shots taken in a rare home shutout against.

Defensively, the Dragons were still very solid against the highly potent Thunderbirds on Wednesday.

Hutchinson looks to rebuild momentum heading into a pair of road games next week at Barton and Garden City.
