Riding a 16-game Jayhawk Conference regular-season winning streak, the No. 16-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team will face a stiff challenge on Wednesday.

The Blue Dragons (9-0 overall, 5-0 Jayhawk West, 6-0 Region VI) travels to Cloud County (4-2, 3-1, 4-1) for a 4 p.m. kickoff in Concordia.

Cloud County dropped women's soccer after the 2013 season, but reinstated the program for 2017. The only Cloud losses have been a pair of one-goal games to nationally ranked Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa and to Northwest Tech in overtime. The Thunderbirds have beaten Garden City, Dodge City, Barton and Hesston College.

The Blue Dragons enter play on Thursday outscoring opponents 36-1. Freshman Brailey Moeder continues to set the pace in the conference statistically. She leads the conference in points (25), is tied for the lead with nine goals and is tied for fourth in assists with six. She had scored at least one point in 8 of 9 games played this year.

Sophomore Sheena Nichol is picking up the scoring pace. Now with goals in four-straight games, Nichol has seven for the season, which is tied for fourth.

Freshman goalkeeper Clara Burgmuller is 4-0 with four shutouts. Sophomore Ashley Main is 5-0 with four shutouts. She has a 0.25 goals-against average and .941 save percentage.

Cloud County has outscored its opponents 23-9 so far this season.

Maryanne de Castro is the Thunderbirds' leading scorer with six goals and two assists. Katherine Rojas and Angie Vergara have four goals each. Abigail Conway is the team leader in assists with five.

Alanya Hannigan has seen most of the action in the next for Cloud County. Hannigan is 3-2 with a 2.17 goals-against average and a .755 save percentage.

Wednesday's match is the first of two between Hutchinson and Cloud County and the second in a four-game road trip for the Blue Dragons, who won't be back at the Salthawk Sports Complex until Friday, October 6 against Pratt.
