Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The final three games of the 2024-25 regular season are big for the No. 11-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team.

Matchups with Pratt, Seward County and No. 7 Dodge City have a conference title, potential No. 1 seed for the Region 6 Tournament and national tournament at-large aspirations riding on them.

The Blue Dragons (24-3, 18-3) will open the stretch run Wednesday with a battle against the Pratt Beaver (8-19, 3-18) at 5:30 p.m. in the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 5:15 p.m. with Sean Boston (play-by-play) and Dan Naccarato (analyst) calling the action. The game will be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 5:15 p.m.

A 54-49 victory on Saturday over Butler kept the Blue Dragons just one game behind KJCCC leader Dodge City. That win also clinched an opening round Region 6 Tournament bye.

Haley Jackson had 13 points and 12 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season against Butler. The Blue Dragon defense also returned to from holding the Grizzlies to a season-low 49 points on 37.5 percent shooting.

Pratt had a two-game winning streak snapped on Saturday after an 84-53 loss to No. 16 Coffeyville at home on Saturday. The Beavers were held to just one point in the second quarter and 14 first-half points. La'Kyra Johnson had 26 points to lead the Beavers against Coffeyville.

The Beavers need one more win or one more loss by either Independence or Fort Hays Tech Northwest to secure a spot in the Region 6 Tournament. The Beavers have a two-game cushion over those teams for 11th place in the KJCCC. The Top 12 teams in the league advance to the Region 6 Tournament.

Hutchinson defeated Pratt 92-47 in the first meeting of the season on January 11 in Pratt. The Dragons led 52-12 at halftime. Jackson scored 10 points, while Landon Forbes and Katie Duncan had 15 points each to lead the Dragons. Humphrey had 17 points to pace Pratt.
