Hutchinson Community College women's basketball coach John Ontjes coaches his 600th game on the Blue Dragon bench on Wednesday night as the Blue Dragons are on the road to face the Colby Trojans.

The No. 6-ranked Blue Dragons (19-1, 13-1 KJCCC) and Trojans (12-8, 7-7 KJCCC) tip off at 5:30 p.m. at the Colby Events Center in Colby, Kansas.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 5:15 p.m. with Sean Boston (play-by-play) and Daren Dunn (analyst) calling the action. The game will be streamed live and for free on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 5:15 p.m.

Ontjes has won 502 games in his first 599 with the Dragons, which is second all-time in the KJCCC. Colby coach Darin Spence has 359 KJCCC wins, which is eighth most.

Since a 26-point loss to Dodge City on January 18, the Blue Dragons have regained their offensive stride after scoring only 41 points to the Conquistadors. In victories over Barton and Fort Hays Tech Northwest, the Blue Dragons are averaging 88.5 points per game, while shooting 45.8 percent overall and 37.5 percent from 3-point range. The Blue Dragons have hit 21 of their last 56 3-point attempts in the last two games.

Against Fort Hays Tech Northwest on Saturday at the Sports Arena, the Dragons posted the fourth-highest point total team history with the sixth-largest margin of victory in a 114-39 victory. All 11 Hutchinson players to suit up scored and six reached double figures as the Dragons shot 53.8 percent with 11 3-pointers and a season-low-tying six turnovers.

Under second-year head coach Darin Spence, Colby has already made a four-win improvement from last season. The Trojans are tied for seventh place in the KJCCC with Cloud County at 7-7. Colby fell to Coffeyville on Saturday 69-57. Former Blue Dragon Ishante Suttington had 28 points to lead the Trojans.

The Blue Dragons won their 20th consecutive game over Colby on November 26 with a 75-37 victory at the Sports Arena. Hailey Jackson had a double-double with 24 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. Katie Duncan had 12 points and Landon Forbes had 10 points. Jera Kruleski had eight points to lead Colby.
