
Hutchinson CC Sports Information
The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team posted the sixth-largest margin of victory with the fourth-largest offensive output in program history on Saturday to run its Sports Arena winning streak to 27 games.
Six players scored in double figures while all 11 Blue Dragons to suit up scored as Hutchinson shot a season-high 55.3 percent in a 114-39 victory over Fort Hays Tech Northwest on Saturday at the Sports Arena.
The fifth-ranked Blue Dragons improved to 19-1 overall and 13-1 in the KJCCC. Hutchinson travels to Colby at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Colby Events Center. Fort Hays Tech Northwest fell to 1-18 overall and 1-13 in league play.
The 114 points scored was the fourth-highest total in the 51-year history of the Blue Dragon program, but only the second-highest output this season. Hutchinson scored 122 points against Neosho County in November. The Blue Dragons' 75-point margin of victory tied for the sixth largest in team history matching a 107-32 victory over the Bethany College JV on November 1, 2018.
Hailey Jackson scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Blue Dragons. Jackson was 4 of 7 from the field and 8 of 8 from the free-throw line. She scored nine points in Hutchinson's initial 11-0 run over the 2 minutes, 18 second of the game and had 15 points in the first half.
Jackson also moved into the Blue Dragon career Top 20 scoring list. She has 838 career points.
Freshman Noelle Anthon scored a season-high 16 points on 7 of 8 shooting with four rebounds.
Sophomore Brynne Katcher posted her third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds and had a season-high six assists.
Sophomore Landon Forbes continued her hot shooting with 5 of 6 from 3-point range to finish with 15 points and five assists.
Sophomore Jada Pleasant had a career-high three 3-point goals for a career-high 13 points. Freshman Jaden Wilson had 10 points. Zhane Singer had eight points and 10 rebounds, while freshman Carly Dameron had seven points.
The Blue Dragons were 42 of 76 (56.3 percent), hitting 11 of 23 from 3-point range and 19 of 23 from the free-throw line. The Dragons out-rebounded Fort Hays Tech Northwest 53-22. They had a season-high 30 assists with only five turnovers.
Alba Garrido Lamas had 15 points to lead the Tigers. Fort Hays Tech Northwest shot 25.9 percent overall (14 of 54), with 6 of 23 shooting from 3-point range and 5 of 6 from the foul line. The Tigers had 21 turnovers.
The Blue Dragons opened the game hitting 9 of its first 15 points, going 5 of 6 from 3-point range in building leads of 11-2 and 22-4 and 29-7. Hutchinson built its first 30-point lead at the 6:31 mark of the second quarter on a Katcher transition layup. The Dragons reached the 50-point mark after two Jackson free throws for a 51-15 lead with 52 seconds to play. The Dragons outscored the Tigers 24-8 in the second quarter to lead 53-15 at halftime.
The Dragon lead reached 50 points at 68-18 after a Honey Cooney 3-pointer with 4:34 to play in the third quarter. Hutchinson led 80-25 at halftime. The Blue Dragons scored a season-high 34 points in the final quarter hitting 15 of 23 shots in the final 10 minutes.
