The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team looks to start another winning streak on Wednesday night as the Blue Dragons open a two-game homestand.

The No. 5-ranked Blue Dragons (17-1, 11-1 KJCCC) open the second half of Jayhawk Conference play against the Barton Cougars (8-10, 4-8 KJCCC) at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 5:15 p.m. with Sean Boston (play-by-play) and Dan Naccarato (analyst) calling the action. The game will be streamed live and for free on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 5:15 p.m.

The Blue Dragons lost for the first time in 54 games on Saturday as No. 3 Dodge City got hot from 3-point range in the second half in a 67-41 setback to the Conquistadors in a Top 3 national matchup. The Blue Dragons were held to season lows in points scored, field-goal percentage (22.6 percent) and 3-pointers (2 of 27). Sophomore Hailey Jackson had 17 points to lead the Blue Dragons.

Hutchinson is looking is looking to reignite its offense that has averaged only 46.5 points per game and has shot only 30.9 percent. Those numbers are 25.4 points and 10.2 percent, respectively, lower than Hutchinson's season averages.

Barton had leads as large as 11 points on Saturday against Coffeyville, but the Cougars fell in overtime 71-69 in Great Bend. That game snapped a three-game winning streak for the Cougars. Regina Donanu led the Cougars with 24 points while Vivian Onugha had 18 points.

Donanu is averaging 15.8 points per game over the last eight games to lead the Cougars.

Hutchinson won its first meeting with Barton this season, winning 59-43 on November 20 in Great Bend. Jackson had 13 points, while Kahlen Norris and Brynne Katcher had 12 points each. Donanu had 17 points to pace the Cougars. Barton led 31-24 at halftime in the first meeting, but the Blue Dragons outscored the Cougars 35-12 in the second half.

Hutchinson and Dodge City are tied atop the KJCCC with 11-1 records.
