The Blue Dragons dodged an upset bullet on Wednesday night at the Sports Arena as sophomore Hailey Jackson hit three free throws with 1.5 seconds remaining to pull off a 45-44 victory over Garden City. Jackson finished with 25 points, hitting 12 of 12 from the free-throw line against the Broncbusters.

The Dragons hope to re-ignite the offense, which over the last three games hasn't been firing on all cylinders. Still one of the top offenses in the Jayhawk Conference, the Dragons over the last three games have averaged 55.7 points, while shooting 36.7 percent and 16.7 turnover per game.

Hutchinson's defense continues to shine. Over their last six games defensively, the Blue Dragons have allowed only 41.7 points and 35.3 percent shooting, forcing 22 turnovers per game.

Cloud County comes off a Montgomery County sweep in its last two opponents with victories over Independence (75-61) and Coffeyville (81-55). Against Coffeyville, the Thunderbirds shot a sizzling 54.5 percent with 12 3-pointers en route to a 26-point victory at Coffeyville.

Saturday's game features the top two winningest coaches in Jayhawk Conference women's basketball history. Hutchinson head coach John Ontjes is second in the KJCCC with 495 wins. Only Cloud County head coach Brett Erkenbrack has more KJCCC and Region 6 wins. Erkenbrack has 681 Jayhawk Conference victories and 759 Region 6 wins.
