Fresh off two impressive opening-weekend victories, the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team plays its third of six non-conference games on Tuesday night against Neosho County.
Tipoff at the Hutchinson Sports Arena is set for 5:30 p.m.
The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 5:15 p.m. with Sean Boston (play-by-play) and Dan Naccarato (color) calling the action. The game will be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.
Hutchinson (2-0) opened the season with two victories in the BSN Sports Tip-Off Classic, defeating Eastern Oklahoma State 87-56 and NEO 82-43 this past weekend.
Against NEO, the Blue Dragons had three players post double-doubles - Hailey Jackson (12 points/10 rebounds), Monae Duffy (14 points/12 rebounds) and Bree Horyna (11 points/12 rebounds.
The Blue Dragons posted back-to-back games of 60 or more rebounds over the weekend. The 63 rebounds against NEO were the seventh most in Hutchinson single-game history.
Hutchinson averaged 84.5 points per game, shooting 43.8 percent from the floor, but only 26.5 percent from 3-point range. Defensively, the Blue Dragons allowed 49.5 points per game. Opponents shot just 25.6 percent from the field.
Neosho County (1-0) won its season opener on Saturday, defeating the Friends University Junior Varsity 112-57 in Chanute.
Five Panthers scored in double figures led by Myah Coleman's 16 points. Neosho County's defense had an incredible 35 steals in the game.
Hutchinson and Neosho County used to be KJCCC opponents, but the Panthers dropped to Division II two seasons ago.
Tuesday's meeting is the 30th in series history. The Blue Dragons own a 27-2 all-time lead in the series with Neosho County. The Blue Dragons have won the last eight meetings, the last was a 100-58 victory in 2021 at the Sports Arena.
This will be a three-game week for the Blue Dragons. After Tuesday', the Dragons will play Labette and Redlands at the Barton Classic on Friday and Saturday in Great Bend.
