Hutchinson CC Sports Information

So far the score between the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team and Butler has been Blue Dragons 1, Grizzlies 0 ... Mother Nature 3.

Two different winter storms have caused three different postponements between the Blue Dragons and Grizzlies on Feb. 2 and 3 and Thursday. Finally, Hutchinson and Butler will play for the second time this season at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at the Power Plant in El Dorado.

The Blue Dragons (23-5, 17-5) have two games remaining in the regular season. Hutchinson is scheduled to have its second bye week on Saturday and will close the regular season on Wednesday at Garden City.

The Dragons suffered a damaging loss in their chances to win a third-straight KJCCC title after a 66-61 setback to third-place Seward County on Wednesday at the Sports Arena. Hutchinson is one-half game behind first-place Independence after the loss. The Pirates - which have three games remaining at Northwest Tech, Saturday, Dodge City Sunday and at home against Butler next Wednesday - were off on Wednesday.

The Blue Dragons had their 10-game win streak snapped by shooting only 31.1 per-cent and 6 of 31 from 3-point range. Kalyn Ervin led all scorers with 21 points. Mya Williams had 17 points.

The Grizzlies also enter Friday's game on a loss after falling 57-56 on Wednesday at Cowley. Butler started the season 10-0, but after a 68-50 loss in the Sports Arena to the Blue Dragons on December 4, the Grizzlies have gone 5-10.

The Blue Dragons hit a season-high 14 3-pointers in that December 4 meeting with the Grizzlies - Williams had four treys and Ervin, Mele Kailahi and Tor'e Alford with three each. Williams had 19 points and Kailahi had 18 points and nine rebounds. The Grizzlies were held to 30.0 percent shooting. MeKayla Furman and Kamiyah Lyons had 10 points each.

Friday's meeting is the 91st all-time between Hutchinson and Butler.
