Coming off her best single week of the 2021-22 season, Hutchinson Community College women's basketball freshman Mya Williams was named the Jayhawk Conference Division I Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Williams, the Jayhawk Conference's leading scorer at 18.5 points per game, carried the No. 25 Blue Dragons to two victories last week. For the week, she averaged 33.0 points per game while shooting 70 percent from the field and 78.6 percent (11 3-pointers) from long range.

Williams had 29 points in a road victory at Dodge City, and then tied for the fifth-highest individual output in Blue Dragon history with 37 points against Colby on Saturday. Williams tied a career high with seven 3-pointers and established a new career high with eight rebounds in the Colby game.

What's more astounding about Williams week was what she produced in just the fourth quarter of the Dodge City game and first quarter of the Colby game. Williams, in those two quarters, combined for 36 points (17 vs. Dodge City and 19 vs. Colby) and eight 3-point goals.

Williams is one of three Blue Dragons to earn Player of the Week honors, joining Kalyn Ervin and Mele Kailahi.
