Fresh off a thrilling road victory on Wednesday at Dodge City, the No. 25-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team plays host to the Colby Trojans for the 10th Annual Pink-Out Night.
Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
The Blue Dragons ran their current winning streak to a season-long eight games on Wednesday after a 76-73 victory at Dodge City. Mya Williams scored 17 of her game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter to carry the Blue Dragons to their 21st victory of the season.
Hutchinson has had an offensive resurgence during its current win streak. The Blue Dragons are averaging 77.4 points per game while shooting 45.0 percent overall and 41.2 percent from 3-point range, averaging 9.2 made 3s per contest. The Dragons are also a plus-3.0 in rebounding margin and have 25 less turnovers than their opponents.
Leading the Blue Dragon offense is Williams, the Jayhawk Conference's leading scorer at 17.8 points per game. Over her last three games, Williams is averaging 21.3 points per game while shooting 63.1 percent with 11 3-pointers.
Hutchinson will be going for a season sweep of Colby on Saturday. The Blue Dragons traveled to Colby and defeated the Trojans 66-50 on December 13 in the final game of the first semester. Tor'e Alford led four Blue Dragons in double figures with 28 points and six rebounds. Williams had 15 points, while Mele Kailahi added a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Natalie Payne added 12 points. Kiarra Henderson had 10 points and 13 rebounds to lead Colby in that game.
The Trojans have won two games in a row with victories over Northwest Tech (86-39) and Pratt (61-52). Oluwabukola Akinsola had 16 points for Colby in the victory over Pratt.
Saturday's game begins a four-game week for Hutchinson. The Dragons travel to Northwest Tech on Monday, play host to Seward County on Wednesday and will make up the Butler game on Thursday in El Dorado.
