PRATT – Sophomore Kalyn Ervin had career highs for points and 3-point field goals and the Hutchinson Community College had a season-high shot percentage for its fourth-consecutive victory.

Ervin was one of four Blue Dragons to score in double figures as the Blue Dragons defeated Pratt 83-56 on Saturday afternoon at the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons improved to 17-4 overall and 11-4 in the KJCCC. The Blue Dragons won their 15th-consecutive game over the Beavers. Hutchinson plays host to Barton at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Beavers lost their 11th game in a row and are now 2-15 and 1-12 in league play.

Ervin scored a career-high 27 points, hitting 10 of 13 total shots. Ervin was a perfect 5 of 5 from 3-point range, which was also a career high. Ervin hit a 3-pointer to give the Blue Dragons a 17-4 lead with 3:53 remaining in the first quarter. She banked in a buzzer-beating 8-footer at the end of the second quarter that gave Hutchinson a 45-25 lead at halftime. Her fifth 3-pointer boosted the Dragon lead to 72-49 in the fourth quarter.

Ervin's hot shooting was part of a season's-best 54.8 percent shooting day against the Beavers (34 of 62). The Dragons were 9 of 21 from 3-point range and 6 of 12 from the free-throw line. The Dragons shot at least 50 percent in each quarter.

Freshman Mya Williams hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 13 points. Sophomore Mele Kailahi posted her sixth double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Tor'e Alford had 10 points and six assists.

The Blue Dragons out-rebounded Pratt 34-21. The Dragons had 12 turnovers.

Karolina Juresiute hit 5 of 7 shots from 3-point range to finished with a team-high 16 points for Pratt. Cassie Omwubgfor had 12 points and Christy Wiebe had 10 points.

Pratt finished shooting 35.8 percent (19 of 53). The Beavers hit a Blue Dragon opponent-high nine 3-pointers in 25 attempts and was 9 of 15 from the free-throw line. The Beavers had 20 turnovers.

The Blue Dragons shot 61.1 percent (11 of 18) in the opening quarter and was balanced offensively with eight points from Ervin and six points each from Kailahi and Natalie Payne. Ervin hit a 3-pointer from the left corner for a 17-4 lead with 3:53 to play in the opening quarter. Williams later hit a 3-pointer and Kailahi scored with 7 seconds remaining to give the Blue Dragons a 25-7 lead after one quarter.

The Dragon lead reached 20 points for the first time on a Kali Howard putback for a 27-7 lead with 9:07 to play in the second quarter. Juresiute nailed three 3-pointers in the second quarter to spark the Pratt offense, which had just seven minutes in the first 12-plus minutes. Still the Blue Dragons shot 50 percent (9 of 18) in the period. The Dragons built a 23-point lead when Chanteese Craig scored with 1:17 to go in the period for a 43-20 lead. The half closed on an Ervin banked-in buzzer-beater for a 45-25 halftime lead.

Hutchinson's' largest lead came with 3:04 to play in the third quarter when Ervin hit a 3-pointer to give Hutchinson a 63-30 lead.
