Hutchinson Community College sophomore Mele Kailahi became the third Blue Dragon women's basketball player to earn Jayhawk Conference Division I Player of the week honors on Tuesday.

In her only game last week, the 5-foot-9 guard/forward from East Palo Alto, California, posted her second-consecutive double-double and third in the last four games with a 20-point, 12 rebound effort against Garden City on Saturday at the Sports Arena.

Kailahi was 8 of 9 from the field, including a couple of first-half 3-pointers.

For the season, Kailahi is averaging11.8 points and is sixth in the KJCCC in rebounding average at 8.8 boards per game.

Kailahi joins sophomore Kalyn Ervin (Week 2) and Mya Williams (Week 5) as conference players of the week for the 2021-22 season.

Hutchinson plays host to Cloud County on Wednesday at the Sports Arena.
