After playing 4 of the last 5 games away from the Sports Arena, the No. 22-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team returns home for two in a row starting Wednesday against Northwest Tech.

Tipoff for the Jayhawk West contest at the Sports Arena is at 5:30 p.m.

The Blue Dragons (13-3, 12-3 Jayhawk West) will play 4 of their final 6 games at the Sports Arena. The current homestand has the Mavericks in on Wednesday at Seward County in Hutchinson at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Blue Dragons are 6-1 on the Arena floor this year.

After Monday's 82-50 victory at Dodge City, the Blue Dragons maintained their 0.5-game lead over the Barton Cougars, who handled Seward County on Monday in Great Bend.

The Blue Dragons regained their offensive form against the Conquistadors by snapping seven-game streaks of scoring 80 or more points and shooting above 45 percent. Backed by 19-point efforts from Kate Ogle and Lojong Gore, the Dragons shot 48.4 percent with 11 3-pointers. Ishante Suttington tied a career high with 16 points and sophomore point guard Tor'e Alford returned to the lineup after missing two games. The league-leader in assists dished out seven and scored nine points in the victory.

Northwest Tech had a promising start to the season and has sole possession of first place in the Jayhawk after a 65-59 win over Barton on February 10. Since then, the Mavericks have struggled with only two wins over the last 11 games, including a 69-46 home loss on Monday against Colby.

Chloe Andrew, who had six 3-pointers against Hutchinson in the first game, is Tech's top scorer at 14.5 points per game. She is shooting 31.6 percent from distance.

The Mavericks had the Blue Dragons on the ropes in February 24 in Goodland when Allona Harvey-Williams banked in a 3-pointer with 1:26 to play, tying the game at 63. Suttington took the lead back with a drive down the left side of the lane to score with 36 seconds to play. Alford and Ogle hit free throws for the final six-point margin of victory.
