Hutchinson CC Sports Information

Fresh off the largest comeback in the John Ontjes era, the No. 12-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team takes on the Neosho County Panthers to close out a three-game season-opening homestand.

The Jayhawk Conference contest begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Sports Arena.

The odds on the Blue Dragons still being undefeated entering Saturday didn't look great with 5 1/2 minutes to play in the third quarter on Wednesday against Coffeyville. The Dragons trailed by 21 points, but managed to turn things around and defeat the Red Ravens 70-63 in the KJCCC opener for both teams.

K.K. Adams hit four big 3-pointers and had a team-high 16 points. Tor'e Alford had 15 points and eight rebounds and Lojong Gore finished with 14, going 10 of 15 from the foul line. Hutch shot only 35.8 percent for the game, but hit 12 of its final 20 shots and outscored the Ravens 46-18 over the final 14:45 of the game.

The Blue Dragons have a balanced scoring attack through two games. Gore is averaging 14.0 points, while Adams and Kalyn Ervin are averaging 12.0 points and Alford is at 11.5 points per game.

Neosho County enters the game 1-2. The Panthers routed the Bethel JV 107-62 to open the season, but has lost two in a row to Labette, 110-66 and their KJCCC opener to Dodge City at home, 73-71.

Neosho County likes to shoot from 3-point range. The Panthers have already launched a league-high 127 3-point attempts in their first three games and are averaging a league-best 14.3 makes per game. Neosho was 18 of 50 against Bethel and have games of 11 and 14 3-pointers so far this season.

Sarah Hunt and Mike'Ya House are Pratt's leading scorers with 11.7 and 11.3 points respectively.

Hutchinson has won seven straight against Neosho County, winning 111-53 last season at the Sports Arena. The Dragons are 26-2 against the Panthers in series history.
