For the first time in five seasons, the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team has an NJCAA National Player of the Week.
Blue Dragon sophomore Abby Ogle earned national weekly honors by the NJCAA on Wednesday, one day after being named the Jayhawk Conference Division I Player of the Week.
In Hutchinson's return for the holiday break, Ogle, a 5-foot-8 guard/forward from Baldwin City, Kansas, posted her second career double-double in leading the No. 4-ranked Blue Dragons to a 30-point victory over Allen on Saturday at the Sports Arena.
Ogle is the first Blue Dragon since Cynthia Petke in 2015 to earn NJCAA national weekly honors.
Ogle had 23 points and a career-high 12 rebounds against Allen. She was 11 of 16 shooting and added seven steals and two assists to her overall floor game.
Ogle is tied for third in the NJCAA with 4.2 steals per game.
Ogle is the second Jayhawk Conference player this season to earn national honors. Ogle joins Independence's Brittany Reeves as conference national honorees.
