
Hutchinson CC Sports Information
The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team announced the signing of its fifth sophomore from the 2018-19 national tournament semifinal team.
Makayla Johnson inked a letter of intent with Dixie State University in St. George, Utah.
Johnson, a 6-foot-2 center from Crowley, Texas, played at Hutchinson just one season after transferring from Louisiana Tech before the 2018-19 season.
Johnson played in 26 games and averaged 3.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. She shot 42 percent from the field and 60 percent from the free-throw line.
Johnson had a season high of 10 points twice – at Cloud County on December 12 and at Colby on February 16. She had a season-high 10 rebounds in a game on January 14 at Northwest Tech.
Dixie State is a former NJCAA-affiliated school. Dixie is now an NCAA Division II program.
Johnson joins Dejanae Roebuck (UTEP), Tia Bradshaw (UTEP), Jada Mickens (Missouri-Kansas City) and Tijuana Kimbro (East Tennessee State) as signees from the 2018-19 team that went 33-4 and advanced all the way to the NJCAA Tournament semifinals.
